The Kobra Qasr al-Nil was built in Cairo in 1872 and connects the Midan Tahrir with Gezira Island. In English the bridge's name translates as 'The Palace of the Nile'. The statue in silhouette is by Mahmoud Mokhtar and depicts the famous Egyptian politician Saad Zaghloul.
