Notes

In 1886, Charles Caryl Coleman moved to the island of Capri where he lived permanently until his death in 1928. The untouched surroundings of the island provided a great deal of inspiration for Coleman and allowed him to escape from the throws of nineteenth-century industrialization.

The present work will be included in Adrienne Baxter Bell's forthcoming catalogue raisonné of Coleman's works.
