Notes

Leroux was a student of Corot and was advised by Rousseau. He painted mostly around Fontainebleau and the Loire. Baudelaire refers to his work at the Salon in 1846 (where he exhibited on a regular basis), admiring his sincere approach to colour and nature. The Musée d'Orsay and Musée de Nantes are amongst those who exhibit his works.
