Educated in Scotland at the Glasgow School of Art, Charles Sandison lives and works in Tampere, Finland. He was interested in digital technology prior to attending art school, but it was only later that he realized the artistic possibilities that digital media afforded. In a 2002 exhibition catalogue of his show in Rennes, France, Sandison claimed: 'I went to art school with the dream of becoming a painter. The decision to leave behind the computer was not so hard, at the time, 15 years ago, as it seemed so irrelevant, like a hobby, compared to the great work of the painter. If someone, even then, explained that I could make my art with a computer I would not have believed him or her.' Today Sandison's digital works have been exhibited in several solo shows, including Writing with Light at Yvon Lambert, Paris and Systematic at the 176 Zabludowicz Collection, London.
