bronze, black patina, signed with the Societé des bronze de Paris roundel

NOTE

Vital Cornu specialized in allegorical figures, genre scenes, and portraits and exhibited at the Salon from 1876. The Susse foundry cast many of his bronzes but the Victoire Triomphante appears to have been edited exclusively by the Société des Bronzes of Paris. Vital Cornu was a pupil of Pils and Jouffroy and won numerous prizes at the Salon exhibitions as well as a bronze and silver medal at the 1889 and 1900 International Exhibitions.
