Durant III, The Art of Chesley Bonestell, New York, 2001, p. 31, pp. 121-122 (related works for the Golden Gate International Exposition).The present work depicts the Marin Headlands in the foreground, with a view south toward the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco beyond. Bonestell first rendered the Golden Gate Bridge from architectural plans in 1932 for chief engineer Joseph Strauss. He continued to illustrate it through its construction phase in the 1930s, culminating in projects for the 1939 Golden Gate International Exposition.
