CHRISTOPHER KIER (1959-)STUDY OF A CONVERGING ENVIRONMENTmixed media on papersigned, titled and dated 1987-88 38 ins x 50 ins; 96.5 cms x 127 cms Provenance:Private Collection, OntarioChristopher Kier is a Canadian master of the centuries-old encaustic painting technique which consists of combining pigment with beeswax and applying the mixture to canvas or other surfaces. More recently, he has taken on mixed media; his works consist of organic forms and sculptural qualities that evoke a sense of archeological ruin. Kier has been a prominent actor in the Toronto art scene since the early 90s. He graduated from OCAD in 1987 and was the founding member of the art collective “Bandit” and the artist-run gallery LOOP. His work has been widely exhibited across North America and Europe and is included in the private collections of Nordstrom, Air Canada and the Park Hyatt. Estimate: $400–600
