CIRCLE OF ADOLF IGNATEVICH LADURNER 1798-1855 CHARGING HORSEMAN OF THE MOUNTAIN CAUCASIAN SEMI-SQUADRON watercolour heightened with gouache on paper 38 by 46.5cm, 15 by 18 1/4 in.

The Mountain Caucasian Semi-Squadron contained Caucasian noblemen, including Chechens and Kabardinians. These horsemen were renowned for dzhigitovka, a form of trick riding.
