RELATED LITERATURE

Riccomini 1965, nos. 12, 29, 49

Though it has been connected to the style of Giuseppe Mazzuoli, the present bust compares more favorably with the work of the Bolognese sculptor Giuseppe Maria Mazza and his circle. The heavy eyelids, long bridge of the nose, and rounded chin, as well as the long, thin, frequent folds of drapery are typical of the Bolognese style around the turn of the 18th century.
