This pair of portraits appears to copy a set by Koets in the Fries Museum, Leeuwarden.
Laes van Burmania (1638-1691) made a trip to Madrid together with his brother-in-law, Philips van Humalda, who became ambassador of Spain extra ordinair in 1661 or 1662. In 1668 the sitter became a member of Gedeputeerde Staten. With his wife Juliana Agatha van Aylva, he lived on Martena State in Kornjum.
