Notes

Clarence Kapay was born on the Day Star First Nation, 200 km. north-east of Regina, in January of 1961. He registered in the Business Administration program at Saskatchewan Indian Federated College (now First Nations University of Canada) but changed majors and completed a Bachelor of the Arts in Visual Arts degree in 1992. He created and drew a cartoon strip, 'The Generix', which appeared in the Regina Sun from 1989-1994. Through his paintings he attempts to capture a sense of the spirituality of Native life, as well as its symbols and traditions. His work is widely held in collections across Canada, and his painting 'Visions' was presented to Prince Charles during a Royal visit in 2001.
