Cloke (Rene, 1905-1995). "Little Bo-Peep", 1979, two storyboards for Playhour Annual 1979, each with four mounted watercolours, showing Bo-Peep and her sheep in the countryside with fairies and pixies, final painting signed, each illustration 165 x 207 mm (6.5 x 8.25 ins), together with fourteen other pieces of original artwork for annuals and holiday specials, pen and ink, some gouche/watercolour, for Jack & Jill Annual, Teddybear Annual, Playhour Annual, 1980s Rene Cloke was born in Plymouth, but spent most of her life in London. She was an illustrator of books, postcards and greeting cards, producing, amongst other things, illustrations for several of Enid Blyton's books. Her playful depictions of children, toys and animals set her apart from many other illustrators, and she is particularly known for her fairy paintings. (15)
