Documant Colonial, Compagnie de la Nouvelle France 9 March 1649 Titre de propriété de terre à Pierre Boucher, fondateur de Boucherville Colonial Document Dated March 29, 1649. Issued by: La Compagnie de la Nouvelle France To: Pierre Boucher, founder of Boucherville, Quebec. This one page (410 mm. x 330 mm.) is a certified true copy of the document listed on page 166 Letter E in the Office of the Records in Quebec City. It refers to the giving of 80 arpents of land to Pierre Boucher at Trois Rivieres, to open the first trading post in the new world. This was originally written August 12, 1644 by Charles Huault de Montmagny and confirmed by his sectratary Pierre Lemay. The document is then confirmed on March 24, 1649 by Jean Godefroy de Lintot as a true copy and further confirmed by a signature that is not identified. The document is a 3 folded page with a watermark of a seated Britannia in an crowned oval and lettering that is difficult to identify as several of the folds are taped, and the tape in on the lettering. The outer page has 6 lines of information, two dates, a No. 10, and two lines in French with a signature. This document demands a much closer look as it could be one of the first financial documents issued in North America. Ce document d'une page (410mm x 330mm) est une copie certifiée authentique du document listé à la page 166 de la lettre E de l'office des enregistrements de la ville de Québec. Il réfère au don de 80 acres de terres à Pierre Boucher, à Trois Rivières, afin d'ouvrir le premier poste d'échange du nouveau monde. Il a été écrit originalement le 12 août 1644 par Charles Huault de Montmagny et confirmé par son secretaire Pierre Lemay. Le document a été confirmé le 24 mars 1649 par Jean Godfroy de Lintot comme copie authentique et ensuite vérifié par une signature non identifié. Le document est plié en 3 avec un finiligrane de Britannia assise dans ovale et des lettres difficiles à identifier car au niveau des plis et couvertes d'adhésif. La page extérieure comporte 6 lignes d'information, deux dates, un No10 et deux lignes en français avec signatures. Ce document nécessite un examen approfondit, il pourrait etre l'un des premiers documents financiers émis en Amérique du Nord.

Conditions

A buyer's premium of 20% will be added to the
hammer price of each lot and is payable by the buyer as
part of the purchase price.
Lots are sold to the highest bidder. In case of dispute, the
decision of the auctioneer will be final. Lots should be picked
up immediately after the sale. Purchasers must pay for their
lots on delivery. An interest charge of two (2) % per month
will be charged to buyers on all overdue accounts. Payment by cash, cheque, money-order (CAN or US currency) and credit cards Visa and MasterCard are accepted for payments up to five thousand (5000) Canadian Dollars.
All bids are in Canadian funds. Bids in US funds will be
converted at the prevailing exchange rate.
Should a purchaser wish to submit an item for expertization,
the auctioneer must be notified and the lot paid at the time
of sale. If the lot proves to be not as described, the purchaser's
money shall be repaid in full.
Material described as having defects are not returnable on
account of condition. No lots may be returned by persons
who have had the opportunity to examine the material
before the sale.
Any returns for whatever reason must be made within thirty
(30) days of receipt of lot(s). Champagne Auctions are
obligated to pay all consignement lots within this amount
of time.
The auctioneer reserves the right to group two (2) or more
lots and also to withdraw any lot or lots from sale.
The placing of a bid shall constitute acceptance of the
foregoing conditions of sale. Bids will be executed by the
auctioneer.
Bidding increments are at the discretion of the auctioneer.
Mail, fax, phone or online bids are entered on a first bid
received basis. In the event of a tie bid, the first bid received
has priority.

Shipping Terms

Forwarding charges, insurance and registration will be
charged to the buyer. Shipment is executed at the buyer's
risk and responsibility.

Canadian Customers Taxes

The G.S.T. of 5 % for Canadian
residents and the Q.S.T. of 9.975 % for Quebec residents ( or
the H.S.T. for residents of the participating provinces) are also
applicable to all successful bids as part of the purchase price.
