Description

1913. PETER COOPER (1791-1883) American manufacturer and philanthropist, designer and builder of the first American locomotive Tom Thumb. He also backed Cyrus Field in laying the trans-Atlantic cable. Fine grouping of material includes a large, bold signature of Cooper, plus material related to his 1876 run for the presidency as the Greenback Party nominee, including a New Hampshire Greenback Party ballot broadside, imprints including his address to the Democratic Convention "A People's Money Demanded", a pamphlet entitled "The Unmeasured Importance of an Unfluctuating National Currency" and "Our Financial Revolution", and two engravings. Very good. $100-150
