Cornelis. de Wael (Antwerp 1592 - 1667 Rome / Roma), attributed to / attribuito Two hunting scenes in a landscape / Due scene di caccia in un paesaggio, oil on canvas, each 33 x 43 cm, framed, (2), (Wo) We are grateful to Dr. Fausta Franchini-Guelfi for suggesting Cornelis de Wael. In her certificate she points out that she considers the two present paintings to be "very beautiful", relating them to the painter-brothers Lucas and Cornelis de Wael (whose uncle was Jan Brueghel the Elder). Cornelis de Wael settled in Genoa in 1613, where he achieved fame as a renowned painter of battle scenes, marine subjects, and Bambocciades. La Dott. ssa Franchini Guelfi scrive: "A mio parere non sono opera di un pittore genovese ma potrebbero essere opera di un pittore fiammingo a lungo operoso a Genova: Lucas oppure Cornelis de Wael - I due fratelli pittori eseguirono molti dipinti del genere per la committenza genovese, come anche recenti studi hanno dimostrato. ... Le due telette mi sembrano molto belle e la pennellaia sciolta e morbida è molto vicina a quella dei De Wael." (communicazione scritta del 3. luglio 2007)
