Notes

The son of Sir Robert Heath (see previous lots), the sitter was educated at Cambridge, and studied law at the Inner Temple. In July 1626 his father advised Edward and his brother, both students at Cambridge at the time, 'remember that yee are the sonns of a father as is soe well known in the world that your faults will be more observed than of others' (Heath papers).
