Sun and Sea, 1966 titled, dated and indistinctly inscribed 'Sun + Sea 1966' (on the stretcher) oil on canvas 12 x 16 in. 30.5 x 40.6 cm.

Provenance: Acquired directly from the artist by the present ownerThe owner of the present lot and Betty Parsons were great friends and confidants. This was partly because the owner, himself a painter, never asked Parsons for representation as an artist; his reasoning being that she did not provide her artists with a stipend. Parsons greatly respected the owner, and his oeuvre, and they became friends that regularly lunched together. After one studio visit, they exchanged artworks and hence the present lot was given to the owner in exchange for one of his works of a similar size. This work has been within his private collection ever since.
