Daisy Radcliffe Beresford nee Clague (?-1939) R.A. Oil on canvas 'The Priory Church of St. Bartholomew the Great' 1912 Signed lower right and signed and titled verso, which makes mention of the cross bearer being her husband,Frank Ernest Beresford (1881-1967) , a noted artist who did the official painting of King George lying in state ( now in Royal ownership) 40 x 30" Exhibited Royal Academy, Art Exhibitions Bureau labels, James Bourlet labels and other labels verso. The church was established in 1160 in West Smithfield, London. It was initially founded as an Augustine monastery in 1123. It has the most significant Norman interior of any church in London. It managed to evade the Great Fire of London in 1666. The church also has a quantity of murals within the interior by the same artist.
