Daniel Giraud Elliot (1835-1915), A Monograph of the Phasianidae or Family of the Pheasants, published by the Author, [1870]-1872, New York, complete as issued in original 6 parts, printed boards with titles, green morocco spines (24 1/4 in. x 19 1/4 in.); the parts enclosed in 2 original green morocco book-form clamshell boxes, gilt titles and raised bands (26 in. x 21 in.); featuring 79 fine hand-colored lithographic plates (including 1 folding plate of feathers) after Joseph Wolf by Joseph Smit and John Gerrard Keulemans, printed by Hanhart and Trap, colored by J.D. White, 2 uncolored mounted lithographic plates on India paper by Smit; Part VI having title pages, dedication to Joseph Wolf, list of subscribers, preface, introduction, geographical distribution of the pheasants, explanation of abbreviations and list of authors, subfamily descriptions and lists of plates, lithographs sheet size 23 3/4 in. x 18 1/2 in.
