Aaron Ogden (1756-1839) was a United States Senator and Governor of New Jersey. He graduated from the College of New Jersey (now Princeton University) in 1773, and served in the American Revolution as a lieutenant and later major. After studing law, Ogden was admitted to the bar in 1784 and commenced practice in New Jersey. He served in the Senate (1801-1803) and in the New Jersey General Assembly (1803-1812). Ogden was elected Governor of New Jersey in 1812.
