NOTE

A painting of the same subject by Van Alsloot, with figures by his usual collaborator Hendrick de Clerk, dated 1608, is in the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna, Inv. no. 1077. The staffage in the present work is by an unidentified hand.
