Condition Report

The panel is very slightly bowed, but otherwise appears sound. There is a line of cracking, with some associated flecks of loss, towards the top of the left vertical edge, with a further smaller line of cracking at the centre of the left edge, both of which are thought to be in line with the grain of the panel. There is a light scuff to the right of the figure's lips, two light scratches to her blouse, and a small scratch in the upper left corner. There are two small scuffs to the green pigment near the upper right vertical edge. There is some light surface dirt, and a few specks of matter. Subject to the above, the work appears to be in very good overall condition. Ultraviolet light reveals some retouching to the cracking at the top of the left vertical edge, with a further line of retouching just above this, and some retouching to the lower of the two scratches to the figure's blouse, with some further small flecks elsewhere. These have been sensitively executed. The work is presented in an ornate moulded and painted wooden frame.
