Notes

Diego Esposito work hails from a long tradition of post-painterly abstraction and of American minimal art, which he has nourished throughout the years. The works of Esposito always deal with light and space, with colour and form, with movement and sound. 'I don't see it as colour, but as colour-form, like a place of echoes, with sounds, and their vibrations,' he says. He travelled extensively around the Mediterranean and in the Middle East and took with him: folded canvases and note books in which he recorded his memories of the places he visited. Although most of his works seem stern and puritanical at first glance, they stimulate all senses. Poetically touching on myths and religion, nature and architecture, music, painting, movement and dance.

Diego Esposito was guest advisor at the Rijksakademie.
