Lot 124: Dirk Kuipers (Netherlands, 1733-1796)/Poem by E. M. Wiggins on Verso

A panoramic landscape with figures in ink wash on paper, signed in the lower left corner, approx. 6-3/4" x 9-5/8", mounted down on the back of an album page, approx. 9" x 11-1/8". The verso of the album page has a pre-printed border of ivy in red and a hand written poem in ink entitled "The Baby", inscribed by E.M. Wiggins, May 2nd, 1864. To the left of the poem a photograph of a woman in a black silk dress of the period is mounted. The sheet is hinged into a temporary mat but not framed, overall approx. 12-3/8" x 15-1/4".

The paper is mounted down solidly onto another sheet, probably taken from an album; wear and discoloration to the sheet, paper tape verso.
