Donald Gilbert, FRBS (1900-1961), a painted plaster maquette of a recumbent bear, signed and indistinctly dated (19)34?, 20.5cm high, 24cm wide; and a George VI and Queen Elizabeth coronation medallion, 1937, the obverse designed by Donald Gilbert, the reverse by Walter Gilbert, monogrammed respectively, 57mm diameter, in card box of issue (see illustration on our website) Donald Gilbert was the son of the sculptor Walter Gilbert. As well as working on sculpture in a wide range of materials he also worked on ceramic designs of animals for both Ashtead Potters and Denby Pottery
