During her liftetime Dorothy Hepworth allowed her paintings and drawings to be to be exhibited and sold as the work of her long term partner (and wife of Stanley Spencer) Patricia Preece.
Many of Hepworth's paintings, which were attributed to Preece, were exhibited and bought by fellow artists such as Virginia Woolf and Augustus John
