Oblong 2o (433 x 740 mm). 26 engraved plates by JOHANN GEORG WOLFFGANG (1662-1744) after JOHANN SAMUEL MOCK. (staining to last 2 plates). Contemporary boards (lacking backstrip, wear to edges). Provenance: Ferdinand von Reiboldt (bookplate, his name on upper cover, "Herr Cammerherr von Reibold" depicted in plate 24).

Commemorating the festivities during the visit of FRIEDRICH IV (1671-1730), King of Danmark, to Dresden on his return trip from Venice to Copenhagen. The festivities were held by AUGUSTUS II "The Strong" (1670-1733), Elector of Saxony and King of Poland at his court in Dresden. The plates depict the highlight of the festivities, a Lady's tournament held in honor of the Danish King. The female participants included: Graefin von Cosel (depicted with Friedrich IV and Augustus the Strong), von Weissenfels, von Holzendorf, von Nostiz, and others, as well as Princess von Wolfenbüttel. The above title is quoted in the Anzeiger des Germansichen Nationalmuseums Nuremberg, 1898 p.25. Drugulin described the above as Auffahrt zum Carroussel am Dresdner Hofe 1709.
