NOTE

Although this drawing was previously thought to be by Samuel van Hoogstraten (1627-1678), an attribution endorsed by several scholars, it seems that the paper in fact dates from no earlier than the beginning of the 19th century, so the drawing must actually be by a much later imitator of the style of the Rembrandt school.
