A young lady called Princess Lieven (1784-1857), in white dress with voluminous sleeves, pink sash with gold buckle and pink stole draped around her arms, elaborate lace bonnet adorned with pink roses and foliage and long untied pink ribbons in her upswept and curled brown hair
signed and dated 'EWThomson del 1827' (mid-left) and located 'Rue du faubourg S t. Honoré' (mid-right)
watercolour and pencil on card
oval, 6 11/16 in. (171 mm.) high, ormolu mount within rectangular ebonised wooden frame with foliate ormolu spandrels
