Other Notes: Evern Earle Bailly was born in Lunenburg, N.S. and was afflicted with Polio at the age of three. As a result of this devastating illness, he lost the use of his hands entirely and was forced to learn to paint by holding a brush in his mouth, while being confined to a wheelchair. He studied under George P. Ennis is Eastport, Maine in 1931. He later studied under Stanley Royle, Berthe de Clayes and Helen Berry in Halifax and Lunenburg. He graduated from the Nova Scotia College of Art in 1954. He was a member of the Nova Scotia Society of Artists, the Bermuda Society of Artists and the International Association of Mouth and Foot Painting Artists. He was awarded an Hon. LL.D. from St. Francis Xavier University at Antigonish, NS. He traveled to Bermuda, New York, Chicago, Florida, and various parts of Maine, as well as Montreal and Toronto. He has held solo shows at the Nova Scotia College of Art, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto, the Art Alliance in Philadelphia, Rochester New York and Bermuda. His paintings can be seen at the Lunenburg Art Gallery, the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic, and the Lunenburg Town Hall, and are included in countless collections around the world
