EDWARD ADRIAN WILSON (British, 1872-1912) 'Young eagle owls, Horstad, Norway', titled and dated July 1899 in pencil to the right, pencil on paper, 9 1/4" x 7 1/2". Note: Shortly before qualifying as a doctor Wilson became seriously ill in February 1898, after contracting T.B. during mission work. During his convalescence he spent a number of months in Switzerland and Norway where he drew this picture; a time he used to develop his skills as an artist. Two years later he set off on his first Antarctic mission as a member of Robert F. Scott's Discovery expedition.
