Note:
The inscription on the plaque reads: "A celebrated war chief of the Minnesota Sioux born in 1775. Thanks to his personal friendship for Z.M. Pike he sided with the Americans in the war of 1812 though he was the only Sioux chief who did so. He was a man of superb physique, full of dignity, courage and natural nobility, as well as a famous orator. He died at the age of 85."
