Edward Hastings (British 1781-1861) Portrait of Bishop Robert Grey (1761-1834) Watercolour Titled verso 30 cm x 39 cm Bishop Robert Grey was Bishop of Bristol during the 1830's. In 1831 at the height of the Bristol Riots both the Bristol Prison (Newgate) and the Bishops Palace were raised to the ground by the rioters. In this work the Bishop is seen seated before a window with a vista to the Bristol Cathedral.
