EDWARD HERBERT BARNARD
American, 1855-1909

"Sunny Afternoon, Mill Pond, Chatham 1898". Signed lower left "E.H. Barnard". Dated and titled on reverse.
Works by Barnard are relatively rare due to a late-starting career then early death at the age of fifty-four. Barnard maintained his studio in Boston, but made numerous painting trips to the Connecticut shore, the Berkshires, and Chatham.
Provenance: Private Collection, Chatham, MA.
Oil on board, 7 3/4" x 10". Contemporary Arts & Crafts-style gilt frame.
