EDWARD JOHNSON(1816 - 1873) Confederate major general who served with distinction in the Valley campaign of 1862. Led Stonewall Jackson's old division at Gettysburg, the Wilderness, and Spotsylvania where he was captured while defending the "Bloody Angle". After release captured again at Nashville and imprisoned for the duration of the war. War-dated D.S. "E. Johnson" as major general adding rank, 1p., 12mo., [n.p., n.d.], listing a set of men to report for transfer. Very good.
