Edward Reep (CA/NC, b. 1918), "Moment," oil on canvas, signed lower center "Reep," titled en verso on stretcher "Moment," also retains paper label with artist's Greenville address, housed in the original wooden frame, this lot is accompanied by an exhibition poster of Edward Reep's work held at the Garden Gallery. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Edward Reep gained prominence as a combat artist in Africa and Italy during WWII. After his discharge, he received a Guggenheim Fellowship. Reep then went on to teach at the Art Center School of Los Angeles, Bistram School of Art, and Chouinard Art School. In 1970, he accepted a position at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. He currently resides in Bakersville, California and is still painting. DOA 52" x 49.75"
