Provenance

Edward Fisher, Under-Secretary of State, Highfield House, Southampton; Philips, 23-25 November 1858, lot 83, as 'Eglon van der Neer - Boys Feeding a Bird. A beautiful example of the master', sold 30 guineas, where acquired by William Phillips, on behalf of the following
William Cavendish-Scott-Bentinck, 5th Duke of Portland (1800-1879), at Harcourt House until moved to Welbeck Abbey in 1857, where recorded on the East wall of the Underground Gallery by Charles Fairfax-Murray (1894), and by descent.
