N.B. Elio Victores was born in the historic city of Sancti Spiritus in central Cuba, which is known for its Spanish colonial architecture. He studied for five years at the Academie Oscar Fernandez Morera. According to the artist, Victores aims to create film noir-like scenes that leave a mysterious impression. In juxtaposing sepia tone, photorealist technique, and urban subject matter, the present work manages to capture the timelessness of the colonial province along with the fast-pace of modern Cuba.
