CATALOGUE NOTE

Soldi Colbert trained as a medallion engraver at the École des Beaux Arts where he won the Premier Grand Prix in 1869. Continuing his training in Rome he sent over a plaster bas relief of Acteon for his Paris salon debut in 1872 (Musée de Tours) which was later transferred into marble (Musée de Besançon). In 1891 Soldi returned to the subject of Acteon with a marble bas-relief painted with wax.
