Emmanuel Ekong Ekefrey is a self-trained artist from the Ibibio region and the son of a renowned carver. Ekefrey paints with an abundance of forms, figures, lines, and colours that give a striking dynamism to his work. His paintings reflect the culture and myths of his own Ibibio people and also the life in the metropolis of Lagos where he lives and paints. He has been exhibited throughout Europe, and is said to paint in order to glorify Africa.

Ekefrey's work has been exhibited in numerous European Arts Centres as well as the USA and Mexico.
