Provenance: Acquired from the artist by Adeline (nee Lubell) and Mark Naiman, Lincoln, Massachusetts; present owners by family descent.

N.B. Feldman was a professor of fine arts at the University of Pennsylvania, and founder of The Falcon Press in Philadelphia, which he operated for almost three decades. He is best known for his experimental photo-offset lithography, and believed that "Man can make art with a machine; offset press and hand press alike can be his brushes." (1)

Five photo-offset lithographic books by Eugene Feldman and collaborators accompany the lot: Doorway to Portuguese, published 1957 by The Falcon Press, ed. 279/300, dedicated and autographed "For Adeline and Lucky [Mark Naiman]/ with best wishes Eugene" on the colophon; Doorway to Brasilia, published 1959 by The Falcon Press, ed. 409/2000, dedicated and autographed for "Lucky [Mark Naiman] and Adeline with best wishes Edward" on the colophon; The Naiman Journal, published by The Falcon Press; Experimental Papers, ed. 200; and a memorial booklet.
