Description

EZEKIEL BUST OF ROBERT E LEE. Bronze bust of General Robert E. Lee set on square black stone base. Sculpted by Moses Jacob Ezekiel (1844-1917) born in Richmond, Va. Jewish American sculptor who attended Virginia Military Academy, served as a Confederate Soldier during the Civil War and was later commissioned to create the Confederate Memorial in Arlington National Cemetery and designed the bust of Thomas Jefferson in the US Capitol Building. He studied in Europe and had a studio in Rome. This bust is one of many portraits of Robert E Lee by the artist. Marked: Ezekiel Roma. Size: 8''H, 2 1/2'' x 2 1/2''sqaure base. Condition: age appropriate wear.
