A young General or Marshal, in blue uniform with gold laurel embroidery and buttons, gold epaulettes and aiguillettes, black stock, white linen shirt with stand-collar, wearing the badge of the Imperial French Order of the Legion of Honour
signed and dated 'F. Machera. 1813.' (mid-left)
on ivory
oval, 3 1/8 in. (80 mm.) high, gold frame with gilt-metal reverse
