Greer's education embraced studies at St Martins School of Art and Fashion and Sandhurst Royal Military Academy. Portrait photography became his principal professional interest and he developed an open approach that allowed his subjects to emerge in all their individuality before his lens. Leigh Bowery is perhaps best known through the powerful nudes painted by Lucian Freud. Greer presents Bowery in one of his guises as a provocative and subversive high-camp performance artist.
