Description

Library. Circa 1925. Vintage ferrotyped gelatin silver print. 24,5 x 15,9 cm. 2 Foto Finsler Kunstgewerbeschule Halle stamps, annotated and numbered Ma 230 in pencil in unknown hand on the verso.
Hans Finsler was born in Zurich, where he later studied architecture and art history. In 1922 he took a teaching post at the Burg Giebichenstein Kunstgewerbeschule, near Halle, where he ran an influential photography class. He returned to Zurich in 1932. In 1929 he took part in the Film and Foto exhibition in Stuttgart, showing 37 of his photographs. - Minor surface scuffing, bumped lower left corner, otherwise a rich, dark print in near excellent condition. - With: Hans Finsler . Schallplatte (Record). 1920s/printed later. 22,3 x 29,9 cm. Finsler written in pencil on the verso. - Some handling creases.
