Ironically known for their brilliant colours and their long life after being cut, neither of these factors have much bearing in this situation. Stripped of colour and stilled by the photographer's lens, this image has much to thank Robert Mapplethorpe for. Like the American photographer, Pardington arranges the plant as carefully as a human subject, a sensual depiction of flowers that are intimate, erotic, and technically accomplished. EF
