Fiona Pardington Sally and Donna gelatin silver print title inscribed, signed and dated 1999 verso 285mm x 375mm Sally and Donna comes from a series of photographs referencing found medical texts. By changing their context, she has deliberately changed their meaning. A common theme in her work, it is not dissimilar to the way the 50's girls or the hei tiki are readdressed. By restaging them and suggesting we look at them in new ways, what was an image of women initially intended to illustrate muscle configuration, has become a strangely erotic and unsettling image. The titling of these works with strong old fashioned names adds further dimension to their oddness. EF
