Description

FISCHBACH Johann (5.4.1797 Krems - 19.6.1871 Munich) Ischl von Theresienshutte Steel plate engraving and watercolour on paper, 150 x 210 m, mounted, glazed, undated [about 1850], signed lower left in the plate, engraved by C. Huber. Austro-Hungarian landscape, animal and genre painter, lithographer and engraver. He studied at the Viennese Academy of Arts, in 1821 he was awarded a prize for his painting ""Ideal landscape"". He went on study stays to Rome, Germany and Switzerland. He was director of the collection of prints in Vienna, later he settled in Salzburg and finally in Munich. See TB 12/12, B 4/378.
