FIVE ARCHAISTIC JADE 'CICADA' ORNAMENTS

Late Qing Dynasty

The largest of oval form with simple incised lines to indicate wings and eyes, the brown stone with streaks inclusions; one of square form with large protruding eyes, the pale stone stained black in areas; one with flat back, carved in relief and incised on the wings, the stone stained reddish-brown; one simply carved in geometric form, the stone stained black and brown in areas; one following the natural form and carved in low relief, the pale celadon stone stained black in most areas.
