Lacking the 2 frontispiece plates to text volumes; faint toning to a few plates, tiny repair to margin of pl 62, splitting to joints, small chips to spine ends, rubbing to joints and extremities. Provenance: Henry Casimir de Rham (armorial bookplate). Atlas volume only from the second edition. The 23 hand-colored plates depict zoological and botanical subjects, including 8 plates of birds. Beginning in 1765, Forbes spent several years in India as a writer and artist in the employ of the British East India Company.
